Impressive large C19th bronze bust of Roman Gladiator (Richard Aurili Italian Sculptor 1834-1914); well cast with a good rich patination emphasising his expression. His grand helmet headed with a mythical creature and fish to either side. His tilting head and bearded face with a great expression; the right shoulder with fish scale armour, the left shoulder stamped 'Aurili'. The back with a small foundry stamp 'Vrai Bronze Garanti Paris'. Raised on a splendid Breche Violette marble plinth of shapely, ogee form.
