A superb C19th Black Forest carved bear hall chair; the standing bear with attitude and his head raised with his mouth open showing his polychrome teeth and tongue, his arms and front paws resting on his hips in a whimsical fashion. The shaped seat carved with bark design and similarly carved to the underside edge. Raised on carved front legs to simulate branches. The back of the bear realistically carved throughout, making him freestanding. This rare model is carved in Linden wood with a good colour and patination.
