An impressive mid C19th Anglo Indian carved padouk side chair; the unusually high back profusely carved and pierced with scrollwork, foliage and acanthus leaves with a central oval upholstered padded panel. The seat frame intricately carved with 'c' scroll decoration, the serpentine sides with scrolled and acanthus aprons housing the drop in padded seat upholstered in old crimson velvet. Raised on bold acanthus carved cabriole leg with exagerated paw feet with claws. The rear fluted sabre legs headed with foliate paterae and all retaining their original brass castors. The rear of the chair similarly carved to the front with a central solid oval panel.
