Good C19th Howard and Sons rare model upholstered armchair; of generous proportions fully stamped with original castors; the shaped padded back being deep buttoned and having a good head height, leading to the scrolled over padded arms on the generous sprung seat, having a wide bowed front. Raised on walnut turned tapering legs and square swept legs to the rear being stamped "Howard & Sons Ltd Berners St" and serial numbers. Retaining the original brass castors stamped "Howard & Sons London". The damask upholstery is clean and usable but can be reupholstered to clients specifications. This unusual model of chair is earlier than the norm and gives great presence. A genuine Howard chair, unlike some on the market.
