Good C19th Indian finely carved teak elephant occasional table/centre table of very unusual form; the circular top profusely carved with incised geometric decoration with a carved central panel depicting Lakshmi the Hindu goddess*. The outer border deeply carved with scrolled foliage and sunflowers. The molded edge, with a shallow inset freize raised on a turned central column with three bold, well carved elephant heads with the unusual feature of having original satinwood tusks. The elephants wearing carved head dresses and the scrolled trunks each holding a flask. Rich colour and patination.
*Lakshi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity.
