A fine Regency rosewood quartetto nest of tables, incorporating a chess board; attributed to Gillows; the largest table having the very unusual feature of half round lidded compartments being velvet lined to house draughts or chess pieces. The second table having the inlaid chess board chequered in figured rosewood and maple. All four tables with inset cockbeading to the tops and raised on solid rosewood elegant turned supports, united by slender turned stretchers on rectangular bases with scrolled brackets and turned roundels to the ends. Terminating with small scrolled feet.
Gillows supplied a similar quartetto with chess board to Leighton Hall.
