Gary started his antiques business in 1982 at
the age of 17. With a passion for antique furniture since childhood, he
preferred to go to the auctions rather than to school. In 1984, after a couple
of years being a 'runner', he opened his first warehouse selling furniture to
the trade.
With Gary's experience and knowledge of period furniture, we take great pride in
the quality of furniture that we sell and are constantly aware of current price
trends. 95% of our business is still trade, but for selected private clients we
offer confidence and guarantees that our furniture is exactly what we say it is,
so they can buy with the security and knowledge they are getting a genuine,
honest piece of furniture at a sensible price.
We hold over 1500 pieces of C17th, C18th and early C19th fine quality furniture
in stock, mainly in original condition (not re-polished or over restored) with
emphasis on good colour, original surface and style. Restrained country house
furniture, decorated furniture to funky and the unusual; our aim is to supply
the home and overseas trade with quality furniture at sensible trade prices. We
offer a full restoration service and arrange overseas shipping. In addition to
our trade and private business we can furnish a complete house, supply hotels
and show houses and will also lease out furniture for the short or long term.
Gary and his wife Gill have turned the company into the thriving business it is
today, with their eldest son Jake recently joining the business. With an annual
turnover in excess of £2 million, Gary Wright Antiques Ltd consistently appears
high up on the list of the 'Top 100 analysis of companies in the UK Antiques and
Fine Art Industry' (Plimsoll)
